Evaluation Activity: What Worked? What Didn’t Work? and Suggestions for Tomorrow

Contents

Note:

This quick evaluation activity can be used at the end of your workshop, or at the end of each day in a multi-day workshop. In the second case, it’s advisable to start the following day by summarising the results of the evaluation and pointing out what concrete steps you’ve taken to apply participants’ suggestions for that day.

Aim:

To get feedback from participants in order to evaluate the workshop

Time:

5 to 15 minutes

Participants:

Any number

Materials:

  • Flip charts
  • Markers
  • Sticky notes (e.g. Post-it®)
  • Pencils

Procedure:

I) Beforehand prepare three flip charts with three questions written in large capital letters at the top:

  • What worked?
  • What didn’t work?
  • What do you suggest for tomorrow?

II) For the evaluation, put the flip charts on the wall. Hand out sticky notes and pencils to the participants, and ask them to evaluate the workshop based on the three questions.

III) Have participants write their responses on sticky notes and place them on the flip charts. Alternatively, participants may write directly on the charts or a blackboard.
