Evaluation Activity: Three Questions

Contents

Note:

This activity provides a quick and easy way to evaluate your workshop. It can be used either at the end of a workshop or – in a multi-day workshop – at the end of each day. In the second case, it will help you understand what is and isn’t working, and to apply the necessary changes as of the following day.

Aim:

To evaluate the workshop

Time:

15 to 30 minutes, depending on whether you’re facilitating the activity for individuals or groups

Participants:

Any number

Materials:

  • Flip charts
  • Markers
  • Sticky notes
  • Pencils

Procedure:

I) Divide a flip chart into three with two horizontal lines. Write one of these questions in each section:

a. What’s been most helpful so far?
b. What hasn’t been helpful so far?
c. What suggestions do you have for the next time/day?

II) Hand out three sticky notes and a pencil to each participant.

III) Ask participants to answer each of the questions on a sticky note and then place the answers on the flip chart under the relative question.

IV) After the activity, go through participants’ answers and write a summary of them that can be presented to the group at the next meeting. Apply the necessary changes, in accordance with their requests and what’s feasible.

Note:

As an alternative to the above procedure, you can facilitate the activity in sub-groups. Have groups of 4 to 7 individuals answer the questions, ask them to write them on a flip chart and then share their answers with the others. In this case, you might need around 30 minutes for the whole procedure.
